#28: The girl in the dress, one row over and two seats back

Even if it might have been a lie or joke, it really did feel flattering.

DressMy seventh grade year brought a new pain in my side. She was a girl who sat right next to me in the next row in one of my classes and was always trying her best to get on my nerves, making a snide comment about my clothes or whatnot. I did my best to simply ignore her. Now that I look back upon it again, perhaps she was really a little sweet on me and was just trying to get my attention. Who knows. Years later in high school she matured and from what I remember she was actually pretty cool when I talked to her. But anyway, this story isn’t about that girl.

From what I remember of this, one day the snotty girl decided to bust on a girl that sat two seats behind her. I’m not sure if they were really friends or not, but I don’t think friends would do the following to one another. “Snotty Girl” got my attention, pointed to the girl behind her and snottily said “She wore that dress to impress YOU.”

I turned to my right and laid eyes on a girl with jet black hair who was uncharacteristically wearing a very nice dress. She looked away immediately without even arguing with Snotty Girl. I turned back forward as well and said nothing more of the situation.

But it was weird. If what Snotty Girl said was true (she could have been lying for all I know), then I was kind of flattered. I found myself more fascinated and interested in this new girl and that attraction started to grow. She was very pretty.

But like in the sixth grade, I did NOTHING ABOUT IT AT ALL. If I had done so then instead of later on in High School…I possibly could have saved me a lot of pain and face.

Are you saying that you wish you had better pickup skills in the 7th grade? Don’t worry, no one is good at that stuff in 7th grade. It’s ok. : )

    The Guy above is right.

I didn’t take action to talk to a girl who was really in to me a couple of year ago (before I found out about the game).

This was during the world cup, I’d been in the pub all day, so was quite pissed come the evening, I’d probably downed at least 10 pints of larger. She was hitting on me and still I did nothing. I would have been about 20 then.

So I wouldn’t worry about not being that good at PU in Junior School :)

Gunner: Follow the “guy’s” link in name above, trust me. ;)

Dork/Gunner: No, it’s not like I would expect knowing pickup skills in the seventh grade. My point is that if I had simply talked to her, that could have helped my confidence and completely changed many things later on. This is NOT the last time you’re going to hear about this girl…wait until the High School entries to see how bad it gets.
