Dr. Phil “Women Beware” thoughts

My thoughts on the episode watched live around the globe by the unemployed and bon-bon snackers.

Dr. Phil baldMy Tivo didn’t do as it was told and failed to record the Dr. Phil “Women Beware!” episode. But this is the internet…it was inevitable that it would end up on the web somewhere and fortunately it did. (Thanks to Black Label Seduction.) Here are my thoughts.

The title of the episode is just a little misleading as I was actually surprised on how Dr. Phil came off. He seemed fair and understanding of men learning how to open and attract woman so that she can get to know them. Nick and Scott of The Mystery Method was on the show and handled themselves very well.

They show a few clips that shows some of the Mystery Method students in action and the women they approached were interviewed afterwards about their thoughts. One of the women said that she “might” go for him, but the guy wasn’t her usual type. During a clip of her interaction, she is visibly shown stroking/touching her hair several times…an IOI.

Some women are brought onto the show for further opinions. “Usually at bars I don’t have it in my head to meet a guy, because I don’t seem to find quality guys at bars.” LIAR………li-ar. (Why are you going to them, then?) Another woman speaks more positively. “Their idea is a very good one. Men need to go to school to learn how to approach women.” The women openly admitted that they had never been opened in the ways that the MM students did and that it was different from the standard “You’re beautiful” and “Come here often?” openers.

One woman in the crowd says that the dark side to running routines is that it might not be natural. Surprisingly, Dr. Phil challenged the audience by asking if someone had taught them how to put on makeup, choose clothes, and conduct themselves as a lady. “Somebody invented the pushup bra for a reason,” Dr. Phil wisely pointed out.

Ross Jeffries of Speed Seduction is introduced. He says the problem he has with some of the other methods is that they’re about invalidation and making women doubt their own attractiveness, essentially digging into their lowest emotions. The next part of the segments gets a little awkward as Dr. Phil questions Ross’s early 90’s marketing such as “If you don’t get laid, I don’t get paid.” Ross goes over his principals and admits that such theories alone won’t get a potential customer’s attention, thus he markets in the way that he does.

Dr. Phil keeps pressing Ross about what *his* own techniques are and keeps bringing up Ross’s marketing phrases. Ross then gives a neurolinguistics example which Dr. Phil seems to be familiar with the concept of. Most of the portion of the show involving Ross is an argument with him against the MM instructors principals. Ross Jeffries didn’t come off very well at all, although one has to wonder how the show was edited and what was taken out on the cutting room floor.

At this point, the show starts to become disjointed when they introduce a woman who got scammed out of $100,000 by a man who lied about his identity. The woman looked greatly out of place in comparison with the rest of the show, appearing more similar to a frumpy housewife and not like the women talking in the previous segments that seduction artists would normally approach. Even Dr. Phil admits that her scam situation is not like the guys in the previous segment who just want to meet and date. This was the least interesting part of the show and really should have been a separate show in itself, almost feeling included just to give credence to the “Women Beware” title.

Dr. Phil summarizes the show that it’s not the use but the “abuse” of seduction techniques that can be the problem. Dr. Phil polls the audience one last time about whether or not they like the idea of men taking seminars to learn how to meet women and the majority of it was negative. “Well, it’s taken a turn for the worst,” he concludes.

I’m going to give my own conclusion here, and I don’t need a talk show to do it. To any of those women holding their hands up in the audience or ANYONE in general who have a problem with this, I have a question for you. How many women buy those magazines at the checkout counters of grocery stores which has articles like “Wrap him around your little finger” and “How to make him yours?” What about fashion magazines which teach women how to decorate themselves to be attractive to men? (That’s exactly what you’re doing, it’s in your programming.)

So if stuff like bootcamps and lessons are “wrong” for men, what makes everything mentioned above for women “okay?” We go to college and seek guidance from experts to learn skills for our careers. So if learning about to attract women is wrong and makes you deceptive, then does that mean you’re also “deceptive” in your career as well? What about anything else in life such as hobbies that we take part in and learn about to improve and enrich our lives?

Put that on a talk show and smoke it.

Excellent assessment of the show. I saw it on its first showing saw that Dr. Phil was actually a PUA’s friend. Ross Jeffries is the one who made the seduction community look like a bunch of petty freaks.

it wasn’t as bad as i had anticipated at least.

    Hey dude,
Yeh i heard a lot about this show before it aired. Great analysis since i havent actually seen the show nor do i know what it is about.

That prolly would have been on of Dr Phil’s more interesting shows .. since majority of the time he has people on there that are in need of some serious emotional and mental health.

Its great that he gave a good spin off with the whole attraction thing. And you know what .. what he says about chicks readinf magazines and guys attending semianrs. Is so true!

I mean i seriosuly don;t know why some chicks can’t stand a guy who has the learn about creating attraction.

At the end of the day its just a skill .. that should have been taught to you in the first place =)
