Little princesses save their first kiss for marriage

Promoting abstinence until marriage is one thing. But the first kiss?

PrincessesThere’s much being made about how the church promotes abstinence and saving sex for marriage. That’s all well and good (well, not really), but now it’s starting to come to the point where they’re promoting saving the first kiss for marriage. Are you fucking kidding me? What’s next, holding hands? Breathing the same AIR?

I came across this link today which talked about a church in Texas running a “royal ball honoring purity.” It was targeted towards girls aged 8-11 where they were dressed up as princesses (even with a sash) and publicly made a promise where they would wait to save their first kiss until marriage. Attending the event was American Idol auditioner Bruce Dickson, who made the news a few months ago as being a person waiting to save his first kiss (and everything else) for marriage.

If this was an event for teenagers, that would be one thing. But aside from the fact they’re targeting 8-11 year olds (corrupt them while they’re young, eh?), the concept of dressing them up as princesses adds to the creepy factor. It’s almost like the parents refuse to accept the fact that their daughters ARE going to grow up.

It is NORMAL to kiss while dating, this is especially important for guys to understand. How is she going to distinguish you from a friend if you don’t make your romantic intentions known? The other way works too. If a girl turned her head away as I went in to kiss her, I would interpret that as her not being interested or seeing me as a potential romantic interest. Look at it this way…if Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, or whatever male heartthrob that floats her boat was standing in front of her and went in, would she turn her head then?

And Bruce Dickson…remember that name well. It’s ironic I come across that link now, because I have already written about him for a future Hall of Shame which you’ll be seeing in a few weeks.

My last words to the parents of the “princesses,” I’m pretty sure most of the Disney princesses received a kiss from their Prince Charming well before getting married. Do we so easily forget the The Little Mermaid?

This sort of thing makes me crazy. Hey, I know, let’s give girls unrealistic expectations about the sexual act!

I want to talk to some of the girls who actually hold out. The day after their wedding night: “THAT’S what the big deal was about?! I WANT MY TEENAGE YEARS BACK!! That was nice but not that big of a deal!!”

Either that or they’ll think that since the sex wasn’t nearly as earth-shattering as promised by the media and their parents that the man they married wasn’t really ‘the one’.

Because their one, true love will be unbelievable in bed. On the first go. Yeah. It doesn’t take practise or anything.
