And now a quote from Roy Valentine
If only I knew in college.
“Women are always in relationships. They live for relationships. Most women feel naked if they aren’t in a relationship. Many times you’ll meet a girl, take her home and have sex with her only to find out she’s married. The point is, I’ve done many married girls or girls that have a boyfriend. This is usually not an obstacle for a woman. However, it’s often an obstacle for men.
Many men assume she’s in ‘lock down’ because she’s in a relationship. This is a false assumption. Many guys also feel like they’re breaking up a happy home. That’s ridiculous! She’s an adult and is making the adult choice to be with you as your lover. Her relationship is her responsibility, not yours.”

I don’t like it when people make broad generalizations about women. Or any large group of people for that matter. The only women that “live for” relationships are the spineless ones.

Actually on an ancestral genetic level, there is some truth to the above. Anything modern (female independence, condoms, etc) is only a speck in the entire history of humans. In many ways, what was true about attraction and pair-bonding in the stone age still has truth today (survival, replication). I’ll be talking more about this in the future.
Second, I think he’s talking more about what guys perceive, believe and limit themselves by if anything else.

Well, I completely agree that if someone is cheating on their relationship, it’s their problem, not yours. Granted, it’s not a good idea to sleep with someone who’s in a committed relationship, but let’s face it, we’re all adults and know what we’re doing.
What I don’t agree with is the implication in the quote that it’s ok for guys to go after women in relationships, and to disregard the fact that they’re committed. Not cool.

Dork: Whether he have said it or not, it goes on every day anyway. Especially with women. Guys (like my friend at one time) with wedding rings get hit on all the time (preselection). Mating strategies is truly an “all’s fair in love and war” and humans will rationalize their actions in any way possible for reproductive success/greatest genes…or more simply to fulfill our sexual desires that isn’t getting fulfilled with current partner. I don’t see it as right or wrong…it just “is.”
