Her: “Hey ?#@*&%!, how was your weekend?”
Me: “Uneventful. (pause) Yours?”
Her: “Been uneventful myself for the last three weekends. But this one.”
Me: “I see.”
(pause)
Me: (feigning interest) “What’d you do?”
Her: “I hung out with my friends.”
Me: “Hmm.” (can’t think of anything further to say, leaves and goes back to desk)

There’s a big difference. Here I can stop and think about what I’m going to say and revise it if I so choose. Unlike live conversation. Sometimes I wish I could stop time like Zack Morris frequently did on Saved By the Bell to work on a thought.
